Role of Tools Like PageSpeed, YSlow and dynaTrace AJAX

For a number of years tools like YSlow, Fiddler, HTTPWatch, PageSpeed and WebPageTest have been referenced in my blogs and posts. I’ve called-out countless times that we should adopt them. In some regards we have leveraged Fiddler over the past 3 years as the tool of HTTP inspection. Now with our purchase of dynaTrace, we have a great tool that without a doubt should be integrated into our profiling and measurement stack. While dynaTrace AJAX edition is great tool for JavaScript and DOM analysis, the question that comes to mind is it the only tool we should use going forward?

That’s a pretty tough question to answer without much data. I am confident that right now I can’t definitely say what advantage or disadvantage each tool has over another. So I’m going to take a few blogs to call-out each tool, highlighting the pros and cons. Hopefully, along the way I will be able to articulate which tool is right for us and where/how to integrate the tool into our performance methodology.
